Source Chateau de Beaucastel, France, donated by Tablas Creek Vineyards
Comments A cooperative effort undertaken by FPS/UC Davis, the General Partners of Tablas Creek Vineyard in Paso Robles, Robert Haas and the Perrin family at Château de Beaucastel in southern France brought this plant material to Foundation Plant Services in 2004. This Vaccarèse selection is unique clonal material that originated from the vineyards at Château de Beaucastel in France. Vaccarèse is one of a series of Châteauneuf-du-Pape varieties included in the cooperative effort. For a complete story of the cooperative effort, see the 2005 FPS Grape Program Newsletter at fps.ucdavis.edu in the Publications section. The original Vaccarèse plant material tested positive for virus at FPS and underwent microshoot tip tissue culture disease elimination therapy in 2007.
