Source Concha, Chile, in 1974, and then UC Oakville Experiment Station, California
Comments This selection came to California in 1974 from Concha, Chile (USDA Plant Identification #391445). It was maintained for a while at the University of California Oakville Experiment Station, after which it came to Foundation Plant Services in 2001. The original material successfully completed testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program and was planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2003. At the same time, FPS created a backup vine for Sémillon 13 using microshoot tip tissue culture therapy. The backup vine was planted in the Classic Vineyard in 2005 without a formal selection number. The treated material successfully completed testing to qualify for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard, where it will be planted in 2013 as Sémillon FPS 13.1.

Source New South Wales, Australia, in 1982
Comments This selection was imported to Foundation Plant Services in 1982 from New South Wales, Australia. The original material was released from quarantine in 1993 but tested positive for the Rupestris stem pitting virus. As a result, the selection was distributed as non-registered Sémillon FPS 10. Sémillon 10 underwent microshoot tip tissue culture therapy at FPS in 2001 to eliminate the RSP virus. After successful completion of testing for the California Grapevine Registration & Certification Program, the treated material was planted in the FPS Classic Foundation Vineyard in 2007 as Sémillon 15. Sémillon 15 successfully completed testing to qualify for the Russell Ranch Foundation Vineyard, where it was planted in 2011 as Sémillon 15.1.
