Description Originates from: Hertfordshire, United Kingdom; Introd 1901. Developed by Rivers Nursery. Period of origin: 1850 - 1899. A popular dual-purpose English plum raised by the famous Rivers Nursery and notable for its large-size and purple skin. Fruit: Purple, oval, good flavor - sweet/sharp. Harvest Period: Late season. Ploidy: diploid In flowering group 3 Tree shows medium vigor and upright growth. Requires cross-pollination; good source of pollen are Empress, Italian and Vision. Diseases: Some resistance to brown rot (Monilinia fructigena) and Plum pox virus (Sharka). Some susceptibility to canker.
